The shadows that she noticed on the lawn inspired her to spend months developing the technique that, does not, however, paint the selected object onto canvas. The subject is a mirror of itself, while the canvas is carrying an interpretation by painting of the object, particularly in the case of a living thing or food item, like people or fruit. Her ephemeral art style is apparent and what survives in Alexa Meade's works is a photograph. Both photographic and painting methods are tightly interwoven that the result is nothing but a two-dimensional flat space that achieves trompe l'oeil, wherein the third dimension is only visible within certain places that are close to the eyes or hair. Meade has integrated her painted models within the 3-dimensional space around them. Their interaction as well as the world they created is possible. In this way, she blurs the lines between painting, photography, installation and performance.
