Hennessy together with her sister began their acting career in Dead Ringers 1988 as twin callgirls. The actress was not short-listed to play Dana Scully on The X-Files according to Gillian Anderson the actress who ultimately got the part. She married Paolo Mastropietro in 2000. The couple has two sons.
